Hearing System

This page explains the hearing system used at the Station Theatre.

How it works

Microphones collect sounds in the auditorium and feed the sound signals to an infrared transmitter that is located high up to the left of the stage. This beams the signal to the entire audience.

Members of the audience who require hearing assistance can obtain a bodypack receiver from the box office. This unit is hung around the neck with the unit facing forward.

Switching On/Off

To control the volume rotate the large dial on the front of the unit.

Hearing Aid Use

If you have hearing aids with the "T" induction loop setting switched on then the unit will send the sound signals direct to your hearing aids.

Earphone Use

If you do not have hearing aids, or your hearing aids do not support induction loops, then you will need to use your own earphones with a standard 3.5mm stereo connector. To connect your earphones, unplug the small induction loop generator and plug in your earphones to the same socket.

Please note that you must remember to bring your own earphones since, for hygiene reasons, we do not supply them.

Troubleshooting

If you find you have problems with receiving sounds, please ensure that the bodypack is clear of obstructions and has an unobstructed path to the infrared transmitter. If this does not work then please speak to our staff who will be able to help you.
